Quickstart

Installation

  • Install SQL Server Management Studio or manually install Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC).

  • Install django-mssql with your favorite Python package manager:

    pip install django-mssql

  • Add the DATABASES configuration.

    DATABASES = {
        'default': {
            'NAME': 'my_database',
            'ENGINE': 'sqlserver_ado',
            'HOST': 'dbserver\\ss2012',
            'USER': '',
            'PASSWORD': '',
        }
    }

    Note

    Although the project is named django-mssql the python module is named sqlserver_ado.

    Do not include a django.db.backends. prefix. That is only for core backends that are included with Django, not 3rd party backends.
